UV Counterfeiting Printing to Help Protect Your Brand.
Imports of counterfeit and pirated goods are worth nearly half a trillion dollars a year, or around 2.5% of global imports, with US, Italian and French brands the hardest hit and many of the proceeds going to organised crime, according to a new report by the OECD and the EU’s Intellectual Property Office. To help protect your brand against this growing problem, Raepak has introduced a new UV (ultraviolet) printing protection system. This exciting product decoration addition helps secure your brand and gives consumers peace of mind.
How does it work?
Special invisible ink is used in the production and manufacturing stages. The ink can’t be seen on the bottle when finished. However, if you shine a UV light on the bottle the invisible ink glows brightly to reveal the hidden message.
You can use a special trademark, logo, serial number or security stamp. We have shown in our example a shield and a security code.
The Benefits
Counterfeiting causes a few problems with importing, exporting, consumer health, brand dilution and loss of profit through fraud.
A simple switch of a torchlight can reveal if the products have the correct serial numbers or logos. If they don’t this atomically tells the importer, distributor and consumer the items are fake.
Consumer health is also important. Fake items may have toxic ingredients or simply fall short of any packaging standards.
